A weekday morning in Vienna, a little after seven.

The dentist he wished he’d had

Dr. David Paino, arms folded, in black scrubs.
Dr. David Paino, DDS. He has led the practice on Maple Avenue since 2005.
I always thought I could change their perception of what a dentist is and what a dental appointment should be like.Dr. David Paino

Dr. Paino grew up with an old-school dentist who was “pretty rough around the edges.” His family shared countless horror stories. He became a dentist to be the other kind.

So the practice puts one promise in writing: we will never rush you through an appointment. We explain what we see, show you your options and give you time to decide.

He trained at the University of Maryland’s dental school and did his residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. He is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and still studies with the Spear and Northern Virginia CEREC study clubs.

Two doctors work beside him: Dr. Brandon Grubic, who grew up in Herndon, and Dr. Georges Traboulsi, a board-certified periodontist from Fairfax.

Nervous is normal here

Tell us when you book. Before any sedation we set up a Zoom consult, so you know exactly what will happen on the day.

  • In the chair: TVs, blankets, pillows and noise-canceling headphones.
  • If you need more: laughing gas, oral or IV sedation.
  • For bigger work: general anesthesia, given by board-certified anesthesiologists who come to our office.
As someone who has some amount of dental anxiety, Dr. Paino has been very good at keeping me relaxed and feeling at ease.Jason A., a patient

A makeover, planned on screen

Her teeth were chipped, worn and discolored. We designed the new smile on screen, made a 3D mock-up she tried in and approved, then did the work while she slept, with the anesthesiologist.

Invisalign, then veneers

An uneven bite and worn edges. Several months of Invisalign, then whitening, then composite veneers to rebuild the edges.

First visit by age two

Bring them in when the first baby teeth appear, and no later than two.

Little ones can come for a Happy Visit during a parent’s cleaning. Children’s appointments are kept short, and laughing gas is there if they need it. We open at 7:30 Monday to Thursday, so it can all happen before school.

Families come to us from Vienna, McLean, Oakton, Tysons Corner, Merrifield and Fairfax, and we’re close to several schools.

A good part of the team is from right here. Trish, who runs the front office, was born and raised in Vienna. Dr. Grubic went to Herndon High School, and Dr. Traboulsi is a Fairfax native.
